Our well-equipped libraries have been established for over 20 years and provide access to a wide range of print and online resources to encourage students’ recreational reading and support students’ learning across the curriculum. Children use the library both in formal and informal class groups and as individuals. Books may be borrowed before school, during lunch breaks and during allocated class times.
The libraries on each campus are open during the lunch break for children to sit quietly and read or talk with friends. There are also a range of activities for children to enjoy during the lunch break.
Each year we celebrate many events in the libraries. Some of the annual events we participate in include Book Week, National Simultaneous Storytime and the Premier's Reading Challenge. There are also many school-based reading challenges in which students are encouraged to take part.
The collection is developed in such a way to enrich and support the curriculum taking into account the varied ages, interests, abilities and maturity levels of the students.
Scholastic Book Club is offered throughout the year. Catalogues are sent home with the students, orders are placed online and students receive their purchases at school when they arrive. In Term 4 a Book Fair is also held.
